Peter Andreas Thiel was born on the 11th. Born in October 1967 under the sign of the Libra in Frankfurt, then in West Germany, son of his father Klaus Friedrich Thiel and his mother Susanne Thiel. When Peter was a child, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where his father worked as a chemical engineer. He’s Patrick Michael Teal’s older brother.

Before moving to Foster City, California in 1977, the family spent some time in South Africa and Namibia, where Peter attended primary school. He attended Bowditch High School in Foster City and graduated from San Mateo High School in 1985. He then went to Stanford University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1989. During his studies he founded the Stanford Review and served as an editor. Peter continued his studies at Stanford Law School, where he obtained his PhD in 1992.

In 1996 Peter founded his own company – Thiel Capital Management – an investment fund. Two years later, with Luke Nosek and Max Levchin, he founded the software development company Confinity Inc. and in 1999, with Russell Simmons, Yoon Pan and Ken Howery, he introduced PayPal as a money transfer service of Confinity. Peter worked for the company as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) until it was sold to eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002. Continued success: Facebook and other private companies

Peter Tale then invested $10 million in the creation of Clarium Capital Management, a global speculative macro fund, and in August 2004 he invested in Facebook, which he sold for $1 billion in 2012. He also became a member of the board of Facebook. In 2004, he co-founded Palantir Technologies, a private data analysis company, of which he is chairman and which currently has more than $20 billion in equity capital. The following year Peter joined Luke Nosek and Ken Howry to found a venture capital company, the Founders’ Foundation. He was co-founder of Valar Ventures and Mithril Capital Management in 2010 and was recently partner in Y Combinator from 2015 to 2017.
